June 21, 2007(WARWICK, R.I.) Congressman Jim Langevin today announced that Donald R. Sweitzer will serve as the 2008 Langevin for Congress Finance Chair. “While 2008 may seem far away, I am thrilled that Don has agreed to play such a vital role as I begin organizing for my fourth congressional re-election bid,” said Langevin. “Don has been a long time friend and confidant and I look forward to working with him over the next two years.” Sweitzer, a resident of Warwick, is a senior vice president for GTECH in charge of overseeing global business development and public affairs. He served from 1985 to 1989 as the finance director of the Democratic National Committee and then later returned to the DNC as its Political Director from 1993-1995. “As a well-respected leader for one of Rhode Island's top employers and a veteran of local and national politics, Don offers my campaign a tremendous amount of experience,” continued Langevin. “I am proud to have him aboard for 2008.”
