Langevin Announces Westerly Town Committee EndorsementAugust 31, 2006:(WARWICK, R.I.) Congressman Jim Langevin today thanked the Westerly Democratic Town Committee for their endorsement of his re-election campaign. "I am thankful and energized to receive this endorsement from Westerly Democrats," said Langevin. "When re-elected, I will continue to look our for Westerly's best interests especially on the issues of education, housing, energy and health care. These are issues that important for Westerly's working families as well as Rhode Island's working families. "We are proud to have Jim Langevin working for us in Washington," said Bob Ritacco, chair of the Westerly Democratic Town Committee. "We look forward to offering support to his campaign so he can continue to advocate for us." Langevin will spend the final days leading up to the election talking about the need to ensure that all Rhode Islanders feel secure – in their homes, in their communities and in their country. He believes the need for security transcends national and homeland security. It is about health care security, economic security, housing security, energy security and educational security. "To me, national security is family security, and it is about all these issues and more," said Langevin. "I pledge to continue to work everyday as the Congressman of the Second Congressional District to make sure our children inherit a stronger country and a better world than the one we live in today." -30- |
