Langevin works for passage of stem cell legislationMay 01, 2006:Despite President Bush's threat to veto the bill if it reaches his desk, Congressman Langevin is pressing for legislation that authorizes a larger federal role in embryonic stem cell research. Advocates contend that stem cells have the potential to offer treatments or even cures for diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. "I'm hopeful it will be sooner rather than later," Langevin said in a recent interview. "I believe the bill will pass the Senate with strong bipartisan support."
